Meet the President
President John Meggitt ('83)
We are pleased to announce that at the Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday 1 April 2026, John Meggitt ('83) was voted in as the new President of The Scots College Old Boys’ Union.
John is a proud member of a three-generation Scots family. He is the son of Dr John Meggitt ('53) and the father of three Scots boys: Matthew ('19), Max ('22), and William (Year 12).
John’s journey at Scots began in Year 3 at the Prep School. During his time at the College, he was a Prefect, the Editor of the Senior school newspaper, and a dedicated sportsman competing in Athletics, Cricket and Rugby. He also served as the 2IC of the Navy Cadets in Year 12.
Professionally, John brings over 30 years of expertise across the commercial, legal, property and construction industries, currently serving as the Chief Commercial Officer of the Aveng Group. We look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring to our alumni community.
The role of President
The Old Boys' Union is governed by a Committee appointed annually by members present at the Annual General Meeting. The Committee meets regularly, and charges its office-holders to provide leadership and management for the regular activities of the Old Boys' Union. In this way, the President is responsible for:
- serving as the primary channel of communication between the College Principal and the Old Boys' Union;
- liaising with the Principal to ensure appropriate staffing for the Old Boys' Union;
- honouring the College's heritage and tradition by serving as a key figure in the ceremonial of the College
The President of the Old Boys' Union is assisted in his role by a Special Advisor, the Alumni Relations Manager and the Committee at large.
